Coffee
bar area to redefine the urban fabric
Specialization
course in interior design - workshop 1
The
urban theme
Some
decayed places of the town could reveal, if looked with a peculiar
project point of view,
interesting fields for formal experimentation.
The hypothesis using a space below a big infrastructure, like the
viaduct in Viale Renato Serra
- viale Monte Ceneri, in Milan, represents an opportunity to look
at the places defined by
infrastructures, taking the possibility of building an architectural
relationship with some handmade
articles even from different points of view.

THE FUNCTION
The stretch of the viaduct that we consider has to be suited to the realization
of a commercial space with reference to a great commercial structure (la Rinascente)
at the corner between Viale Certosa and Viale Renato Serra. A link with the
existing structure through an underpasswill be considered.
The space must be used as showroom and as a coffee bar

ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTIONS
The solution must have the capability to characterize the place with a clear
compositional choice that could also be very simple. The definition of the interior
spacestems from the unusual context and is characterized by the
precision of architectural choices which will define a comfortable and rational
environment, clearly suitable for the proposed uses.
